Brentford B midfielder Ryan Trevitt said he was 'absolutely buzzing' to help his side to Premier League Cup victory against Blackburn Rovers Under-21s.
The 20-year-old scored and assisted in the 2-1 win at the Gtech Community Stadium and, after the game, expressed how pleased he and the whole squad were to lift the trophy on Tuesday night.
"I'm absolutely buzzing. The whole team’s put so much into this - all the coaching staff, all the players, everyone," Trevitt said.
“We’re just so pleased to get it done. We were very confident coming into it and we went on to win the game - we're all so happy.”
Trevitt scored the opening goal after a smart set-piece routine. Alex Gilbert's corner was swung low into his team-mate, who swept it into the back of the net on the half-hour mark.
And Trevitt admitted that it was something the duo had worked on with B team assistant coach Sam Saunders, which made it all the more satisfying.
He explained: “It was a set piece that we work on that Saunds (Saunders) works on with us, it's something that we've scored before and, as soon as the ball came in, I just knew I was going to score."
When asked how he felt when the ball hit the back of the net, the midfielder added: “Just incredibly happy. I was just so happy to score.
“I did a little knee slide in front of the fans, thanks to all of them for turning up, it gave us that little extra boost, especially when it went to 2-1. It gave us that little bit extra.”
