Brentford Women marched to a 3-1 win against Ashford Town at Honeycroft on Wednesday evening in the London and South East Premier Division.

Wiktoria Kiszkis, Ashley Cheatley and Katie Gilligan were all on target for Carly Williams’ side, who continued their unbeaten start to the season.

It was a dominant start to the game from the home side as they looked to strike early.

Abbi Smith had the first chance, striking a powerful shot from inside the area which was saved well by Libby Stratton.

Cheatley was next to go close as her left-footed shot was saved by Stratton's right boot.

Brentford were edging closer to an opener as they surged forward on multiple occasions, finding space in wide ares, but the final ball was not being produced.

A great through ball from Smith allowed Kiszkis to break through on goal, but with only the goalkeeper to beat, the striker's shot flew over.

The chances continued to flow for Brentford as Maddie Phillips tried her luck from a free-kick 25 yards out but, again, Stratton made the stop.

On 23 minutes, the deadlock was broken. Stratton could do little to stop Cheatley combining with Wiszkis as the latter tucked away neatly from close range.

The away side struck back almost instantly. A lofted cross from Ruby Maiden managed to find its way into the net as it flew over Saskia Reeves-Priestley.

Despite that setback, Asees Sangha - who was brought on in the first period - combined well with Millie Constantine before finding the unmarked Cheatley who tapped into the net to restore the lead.

Brentford had a golden opportunity to extend their advantage after the break when Sangha raced into the Ashford box and was fouled. Phillips stepped up to take the penalty but smashed her effort over the bar.

The third goal did eventually arrive. Sangha was again the provider, playing an incisive pass which found Gilligan, who steered her shot into the goal.

The Bees would cruise to victory, seeing out the game with maturity to secure the three points.

The west Londoners will look to make it 10 games unbeaten in the league when they travel to St Paul's Sports Ground on Sunday 1 November to take on Millwall Lionesses.

Williams: It was important to get the job done

Reaction: Carly Williams on Ashford Town win

Brentford Women head coach Carly Williams reflected on her side's 3-1 win against Ashford Town.

"We always knew Ashford was going to be a tough opponent and they played some good football, but for us it was important to get the job done after a long week of football," said Williams.

"I think we look to always play our way. There are final action bits that we want to do better in.

"From our perspective, there are always opportunities to be in control of the game and I think, in the end, the players handled the actions in the game well."
