Brentford Women made it 10 league games unbeaten with a convincing 3-0 win over Millwall Lionesses at St Paul’s Ground on Sunday afternoon in the London and South East Premier Division.
Katie Gilligan smashed home the opener before Wiktoria Kiszkis scored twice to wrap up the win, as Carly Williams’ side continued their impressive start to the season.
It was a dominant beginning to the game from the away side as they looked to get an early goal.
Ashley Cheatley went closest in the opening minutes of the game as she was played in on goal by Rhian Cleverley, but Abby Baravik made a great stop to deny the striker.
Good combination play between Gilligan and Cheatley allowed the latter to break through on goal but, again, Baravik was positioned well to make the stop.
Despite the pressure on the home side's goal in the first period, Brentford could not find the opener their play deserved.
The deadlock was finally broken on 66 minutes as a positive Brentford attack ended with Makeba Black whipping a dangerous cross into the box for Kiszkis, who calmly laid the ball off to Gilligan to smash into the net.
Millie Constantine then had two quick chances to double the lead. First, she spun sharply in the box and fired just wide of the post. Moments later, an ambitious strike from distance almost caught out the goalkeeper, who could only parry it to safety.
Black was the next to go close. Her effort from a tight angle missed the target with Baravik rooted to the spot.
Second-half substitute Lucy Monkman also tried her luck, sending a shot just over the bar.
The lead was doubled in the closing moments of the game as Kiszkis did well to drive into the box and then score with a delightful chip over the keeper.
Kiszkis had enough time to get her second of the game, heading in a powerful effort from a Constantine free-kick.
That proved to be the last big moment in the game, as Williams’ side saw out the win to stay unbeaten in the league.
The Bees are in League Cup action next week as they take on AFC Greenwich Borough on Sunday 8 November.

Reaction: Carly Williams on win against Millwall Lionesses
Brentford Women head coach Carly Williams reflected on her side's 3-0 win against Millwall Lionesses.
"I think we are always looking at being ready. The finishers - as we call them - their attitude has been excellent and their drive and desire to do well for the team and each other has been fantastic," she said.
"We are proud of the run we are on in terms of being unbeaten. Our opponents are naturally looking at us but we just need to look at one game at a time and continue working hard on and off the pitch
"They have deserved the results and the clean sheets this season, it has been a pleasure to see and there is more to come from us."
