Brentford Women’s First Team fought back to win 4-2 at the Gtech Community Stadium this afternoon in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North, following the triumph Manager Karleigh Osborne was left incredibly proud of his players.
Speaking on his side, Osborne said: “The players deserve all the plaudits today, they are great people and are moving the club in the right direction.”
Despite the Bees making history as they performed at the Gtech for the first time in front of a record crowd, Watford Ladies Development looked to spoil the occasion as they opened the scoring on 14 minutes through Lily Hall.
Despite the hosts having several opportunities to get an equaliser they failed to find the back of the net and went into half-time a goal down.
Talking on the visitors early goal, Osborne explained: “I think we were slightly unfortunate to go into the break a goal down, we created a lot of chances, but they came and gave it a real go and played some good football.”
The First Team responded exceptionally well in the second half and got their deserved leveller three minutes after the break through an own goal.

Osborne continued: “At half-time my message to the girls was to believe in yourselves more, go show the crowd what you can do and prove why we are battling for promotion.”
This message seemed to translate perfectly to his team who took the lead on 63 minutes through Kirsty Matthews who put in an amazing performance.
“The reaction from the girls was good to see we went from strength to strength and began to really dominate the game, said Osborne.
“Kirsty was brilliant she was really good once she got herself into the game, a lot of chances were coming from the right flank, she was producing good crosses and was a real danger today.”
The Bees got two more before the full-time whistle the first coming from Chloe Logie, taking her to 12 goals in 12 games, continuing her fine run of form and substitute Eleonora Cottrell got the second goal with a wonder strike from 20 yards out.
The win sees the Women’s First Team go unbeaten in their last six in all competitions with Osborne believing this is a real boost in their title hopes this season.
“Six games unbeaten is huge, we have to go again though by winning our next game and make sure we stay focused but for now I want us to enjoy today.
“The fans made the day for us; the girls have made history today and the supporters have helped us to do that, so I am really grateful for everyone who was in attendance.
“I would like to thank everyone involved for allowing this game to happen it wouldn’t have been possible without all the staff involved.”
